I know this is late.. Really late, but this has been bugging since Twilight came out in theaters, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to share my opinion. But before the DVD comes out here, wanted to get it out.
Jackson, or as most people know him, Jasper, doesn't have that many lines, and they never say what his "power" is. In the rest of the movies.. well.. not really New Moon, but w/e, he plays a bigger part. He has to help out. I don't think that it was fair to both Jasper or Jackson. In the book, Jasper was amazing. And yes, I know, It's not Twilight the book, the movie, it's Twilight the movie.. But Jasper should have gotten more credit. Litterally.
Same with Rob (Even though I'm not a fan of Rob) or... Edward. I LOVED Edward in the book, but I hated Edward in the movie, not just because of my hatred to Rob. Rob made Edward look too pained, and Edward in the movie is a complete jerk(Whispers: ass hole).
Alice. Well.. I'll always love Alice no matter what. She's an amazing character, but in the movie, they don't really show the relationship formng between Bella and Alice, and that bugs me. Alice and Bella's relationship is pretty much the secondary relationship in Twilight besides Edward and Bella.
Even Carlisle, played by Peter, one of the great things about Twilight is the fact that they told Carlisle's history, it added character to the book. When Edward was describing it in the book, I could see it all, it was dark, but it added. It was needed. In New Moon when Carlisle is talking about his past, and changing Edward, it added.
Esme NEVER talked about her past.. as far as I can remember.. no one did.. does she just not exist or what? Now, I know that if they had put it in the movie, some little kids would think, "Cool, all I have to do is jump off a cliff, a vampire will find me, and I'll be saved!", but everything that was put into the book was there for a reason. It's like telling a story within a story. The only thing I liked about Esme in the movie was when Bella went to visit the cullen's for the first time. She was really excited and it was cute haha.
Emmett.. I can't diss him, Emmett's amazing, but he was happier in the book. The only times I could remember him smiling in the movie was when Bella came to visit(And his happiness ended once Rose started to talk.), and while playing baseball before James showed up.. Besides that, I don't think he cracked a smile. I love Emmett(and the rest of the characters), and I don't think they were even close to giving him justice.
Rosalie. Hell.. I just love her. Both in the book and movie. Nikki is an amazing actress, and she played the part justice. I must admit, Rose was a little.. Too mean, in the books, but it made the whole book better, and once explained why she was that way, it made sence and I put myself in her shoes. I can relate to Rose in a way. When I was younger, something happened that I wish didn't, and if I could go back and do it all over again, I would choose a different path. yeah, i wouldn't be here anymore, but atleast i wouldn't have to look at people and wish I had what they had. A Normal life. Out of all the characters in the book, I relate to Rose the most. Yeah, I'm not as mean as she is, but I can see exactly where she's coming from.
As for bella, don't get me wrong. I LOVE Kristen, she's amazing, and she's beautiful, but something about the Bella she embodied was off. I can't put my finger on it.. but it was off.
And Jacob, now.. I'm not saying I don't like Jacob, because I do, I love him. I love Taylor aswell, but just like Kristen as Bella, there was something off.. But I must admit, Taylor looks hot as Jacob haha.
James.. What can I say about him. He was perfect, and I'm not just saying that because of Cam, who played James(I do love my Mr. Gigandet), He just embodied the James we all loved to hate. As for the other Nomads, I can't decide whether I liked them or not.
Overall, the book was a hell of a lot better then the movie. But I can't say I disliked the movie. Because I loved it.. Finally being able to put faces to the characters.. I just thought the screen play could have been better.
